Trailer Lettering

Trailer lettering

Tips for measuring your trailer

Everyone has a different trailer brand, make and model so there is no set “standard” lettering size for vinyl letters and graphics. If you are not delivering your trailer to our store for lettering, then you will need to take careful measurements to ensure the best fit and look for your vinyl lettering and graphics.  Before you place your order for trailer lettering keep the following tips in mind:

  1. Determine where you want the lettering (on the nose of the trailer, the upper edge, the sides, etc.)

  2. Measure the space carefully. Use your tape measure to carefully measure how much room you have on your trailer and use those measurements to determine how big you want your lettering or graphics to be. Take careful consideration to measure  around the curves of the top edges of trailers.

  3. Keep in mind if the desired place for your vinyl lettering or graphics is ‘wavy’ (found on many aluminum trailers). It will be more difficult to apply vinyl to these areas and the durability may be compromised if not applied correctly.

  4. Seams and rivets. As you measure your trailer, you will want to make a note about the distance between seams (if any) that your lettering or graphics will have to cover. NOTE: Vinyl lettering does not cover seams well and the durability of the vinyl may be compromised.

  5. Write down each measurement, both horizontal and vertical.

  6. After carefully measuring each desired place for your vinyl lettering and graphics, then place your order either by our secure internet site or by phone.

Vinyl letteringApplying Vinyl Graphics to Trailers

Some people don’t think that their trailers are dirty if they aren’t covered in mud and manure. Just like the windshield of your truck, trailers collect bugs and bird droppings which must be cleaned prior to applying vinyl lettering and graphics.

Remember to wash and dry your trailer thoroughly before you apply your vinyl graphics or lettering. Failure to do so will compromise the durability of the vinyl and will distort the look of the vinyl (i.e. cause bumps, lumps, and bubbles).

If you are bringing your trailer to our shop or we’re to meet you at a show for application, then you will need to wash the trailer before hand to avoid extra charges if we have to clean it.
